Another Path to The Dark Side

“If once you start down the Dark Path, forever will it dominate your destiny.”

As this galaxy prepares for the release of the latest Star Wars film, “The Last Jedi,” Legion Brewing is doing our part to make sure Queen City residents aren’t unfamiliar with The Dark Side. Whether recent cooling temperatures are attributable to a change of season or a sinister shift in The Force, we want our customers to have a proper beer to combat the elements.

Irrespective of Hollywood release dates, countless beer drinkers mark this time of year to shift away from Summer golden browns and Fall ambers, moving instead toward darker, Wintery brews. Many beer aficionados, having long ago strayed along the path into the Darker Realms, consider Stouts to be a year-round staple.

With equal parts trepidation and hope, we are pleased to re-introduce Path to the Dark Side (Oatmeal Stout – 5% ABV, 30 IBUs), a rich and creamy Oatmeal Stout aged on American Oak. Chocolate and caramel malts impart deep, dark flavors layered upon a malt backbone consisting of roasted barley and oats. Just as a Jedi strives to bring balance to the Force, expect this beer to have a smooth mouthfeel and mild hop presence, perfectly calibrated to counterbalance the sweetness of the dark chocolate notes.

“Even though I primarily drink hoppy beers, when the weather starts to shift, I find myself lured by the promise of the warmth and flavors of dark beer. Path to the Dark Side’s oaky character and full mouthfeel offer the perfect opportunity to experiment away from lighter varieties,” announced Associate Brewer, Scott Griffin. “If Yoda had access to this beer in the Dagobah System, I’m pretty sure he would have used Path to the Dark Side to test Luke’s character, focus and resolve.”

While Legion Brewing doesn’t plan to subject our customers to the Jedi Trials, we are willing to lead them just a ways down the Path to the Dark Side. As if we needed to provide even more temptation, we are bringing back our favorite Oatmeal Stout on International Stout Day, which is being celebrated on Thursday, November 2nd. #StoutDay
